About Us

Illegal dumping is a major problem with significant social, health, environmental and economic impacts for Imperial County residents. Imperial County is not unique in facing a tremendous burden from illegal dumping. On November 27, 2007, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors directed that a discussion regarding illegal dumping in Imperial County be agendized at the first available opportunity.

The Public Health Department was tasked with the responsibility of contacting stakeholders in this complex and pervasive issue. The coordination effort resulted in the establishment of an illegal dumping task force, made up of representatives from local agencies, with the authority or resources to address the problem. For a truly integrated program, the task force also involves the community and industry, to plan, implement, and sustain a successful program.

Our Mission

The mission of the Illegal Dumping Task Force is to prevent illegal dumping in Imperial County through collaboration with local stakeholders by informing the community of the consequences of illegal dumping and by promoting approved methods for solid waste disposal.
